THE SECOND ACT was created after the unfortunate; unfair and tragic closing of ADDICTION SPECIALISTS, Inc & THE MARY E. STERATORE TREATMENT CENTER which was located in Uniontown, PA (1999-2016). This ll facility was in operation for more than 20 years and helped thousands of addicts & family members receive treatment from the treacherous disease of addiction. ASI/MES began in 1999 as a small, family owned outpatient methadone facility that grew rapidly into a full service addiction treatment center which offered methadone, Suboxone, drug-free outpatient partial hospitalization, inpatient residential and a flourishing family program. It was owned and operated by Roz and Sean Sugarmann. since the closing of this facility 152 of its patients have died from an overdose. Once this facility closed The death toll continue to rise. Roz Sugarmann was faced with extremely unfair charges and served 10 months in Alderson women’s prison. The judge stated that this was a “Crime of the Heartland”……… upon her release from prison she decided to assist her for children in creating the second act recovery homes which are now located in Homestead Pennsylvania.
